A little bit about us..
The South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (SCMSAC) is a non-government, not for profit, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health, Wellbeing and Community Services Organisation. Our services include:
- Wellbeing Services
- Permanency Support (OOHC)
- Disability Services
- Family Support
We are the only Aboriginal non-government organisation within the Shoalhaven and Far South Coast providing Permanency Support services. Our services and programs are designed to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people in the NSW care system.
Why are we taking part in Pyjama Day?
Our team is passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in care, ensuring they are supported culturally, with the aim of lowering the number of children placed into out of home care in NSW. We work closely with birth parents and family members, and encourage participation in permanency decisions, with the goal of restoration. We see significant and life-long benefits for children, young people and their families who we support through our Permanency Support Program. For many children and young people, the right care and support can help them move on in their lives, and develop into healthy adults.
What we'll be doing on the day, Friday 19th July...
National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your best bedtime attire to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care. Our team will be wearing our favourite PJ’s to work across our many locations, and making a donation at our morning tea. With the money raised from National Pyjama Day, we’ll be helping the Foundation fund educational resources, offer learning skills to children, and help provide stable, positive relationships for kids in care.
If you'd like to help us support kids in care, you can donate here :)
