On the Friday 17th of July, the children from the Kookaburra room and their teachers would like to invite everyone else at the centre (children, families, friends) to join thousands of businesses and schools right around the country by wearing your PJ’s to raise awareness and funds for children in foster care. - And if you don't want to wear your PJs, you can still donate! :)
All the funds raised will go towards the Pyjama Foundation - an organisation dedicated to doing a lot of work with these children, thus "empowering (them) with learning, life skills and confidence to change the direction of their life."
Their goal is to "give a foster child a chance to find their wings and reach their life potential despite a fragile start".
The Kookaburra children are aged 3-5. By doing this fundraiser, we want to help them develop respect and empathy, become aware of bigger issues in the world, and teach them about social responsibility. We believe that social responsibility can start at any age, and in teaching them to be kind and compassionate, we are contributing in shaping their view of the world. Teaching children how to take care of their communities and their world enables them to carry those lessons of kindness and understanding throughout their lives.
So please join us in raising awareness and raising money for the Pyjama Foundation - thus contributing to the education of our own children. The Kookaburra teachers will be organising a fun day in PJs for the children!
